Summer holiday season is over and I wonder whether you really managed to rest! Well, we women are not the best at it.
And I don’t mean our tendency to look after everybody around more than about ourselves.
First of all I mean our naughty minds which constantly suggest us there is something which we should worry about. Always something is wrong, something needs to be corrected. And first of all there is always something which we should worry about and correct – in us :-).
You know now what I mean… Sounds familiar?
Well, I am a big fan of so called ‘personal development’. I deeply believe that every human being has this task to do for his/her life – this inner work that will make us a better person.
But I really doubt whether the starting point for us should be our faults and weaknesses? I’m not convinced…
So if you have an impression that looking for your deficiencies and torturing yourself with thoughts like „why am I so, why am I not able to change, why can’t I get slimmer, get better, get more effective, more ordered, well organized, better disciplined and so on J”- if such negative thoughts and tension accompany you often I have an attractive proposition for you which you cannot refuse! … Well: take a break from yourself!
What does it mean and how to do this? It’s simple – you only have to introduce a few new practical habits in your life!
Habit no 1 – Morning conversation with yourself.
So you wake up in the morning, you get up from bed, then you go to your bathroom and look into the mirror and… And what? I really would like to know what you say then to yourself when you have this first morning look at yourself in your bathroom mirror. Are these thoughts like that: „oh my God I hate my big nose, and what wrinkles, and the spots on my skin”, and then you sigh „ ok, I will have to think about a Botox or plastic surgery, doesn’t matter, it will not help anyway, I have a difficult day Ahead of me and my life generally sucks…”
Even if on a rational level of your mind you don’t believe these thoughts and you know that at least a part of this is not true, by thinking this way you introduce tension to your mind and to your body. Every day, every morning you teach your body and mind to feel this tension – over weeks, months, years…
That’s why from tomorrow on, every morning when you look into the mirror say to yourself: „ok, today I let go, I’m giving myself a break”. .. That’s enough for the beginning.
Habit no 2 – Your thoughts are like clouds on the sky.
Start to notice that. This is not true that you always make negative judgments about yourself. Very often you are satisfied and proud of what you have succeeded in. And you feel happy with yourself. Notice these moments and enhance them in your awareness.
Women’s tendency is to believe to these critical thoughts and to underestimate the positive ones. As a result you start to believe this negative thinking about yourself equals YOU, that this is the true you – this imperfect, defective version.
But this is not true! Think about that – why should you believe your critical thoughts more than the positive ones?
So notice these moments when you think about yourself nice, celebrate it, praise yourself for that and learn to trust them!

Habit no 3 – Your inner wisdom.

I’m sure you can also hear this warm, supportive voice inside you which tells you how to live, how to act so you could feel happy with people and with yourself. Trust this caring voice, listen what it recommends you so you could experience real holiday season. This voice knows the truth.
